Smart functions.Hybrid VRF technology was specially developed to meet the demands of modern building architecture with high efficiency and comfort requirements. This world-first concept combines the strengths of a direct evaporation system with those of a water-driven model.
So while refrigerant circulates exclusively between the outdoor unit and the Hybrid BC-Controller or the hydro unit, water is the only energy carrier used within the building itself. This smart system consumes far less refrigerant and is therefore ideally equipped to take on the air conditioning challenges of the future.

Sustainably future-proof.Hybrid VRF systems work with City Multi VRF outdoor units in which R410A or R32 refrigerant is used. In the case of R32, the combination of reduced refrigerant volume and low GWP value cuts the plant-specific CO2 equivalent to less than 21% of that recorded for conventional VRF systems using R410A. This performance already complies with the values stipulated for the year 2030 onwards in the F-gas Regulation.
R2 or Y – the choice is yours.The R2 and Y-series Hybrid VRF systems from Mitsubishi Electric offer two distinct options for equipping buildings with innovative air conditioning technology according to requirements. What distinguishes these two solutions above all is that while the R2-series enables simultaneous heating and cooling of buildings, the Y-series can be used for either heating or cooling as desired.
Installation in line with standardsThe use of R32 in occupied areas requires compliance with safety standards. These are based on the ratio of room size to refrigerant volume and are defined in national and international standards (e.g. DIN EN 378 and IEC 60335).
Hybrid VRF technology enables users to enjoy all the benefits of a VRF system in accordance with standards even when using R32 refrigerant. This is because the components carrying refrigerant within the rooms and thus the scope of the necessary fire protection measures are reduced to a minimum.

High energy efficiency
The system wows with high energy efficiency thanks to the latest generation of inverter compressor technology, large-surface microchannel aluminium heat exchangers and the consistent development of all plant components.
The water in the internal circuit of the Hybrid VRF systems ensures mild blow-out temperatures and particularly quiet indoor unit operation, thus delivering considerably greater air conditioning comfort in every room.
Easy to plan and implement
Only two pipes featuring a very small cross-section are required for simultaneous heating and cooling, which makes installation considerably easier. The inverter technology also means that no buffer cylinders are needed.
The tried and tested M-Net bus helps control the Hybrid VRF systems by ensuring the flow of data between the units and the control unit – plus a superordinate building management system, if present. Multiple system controllers, numerous individual room control units and calculations, and optional accessories
