simultaneous heating and cooling
R2 technology from Mitsubishi Electric offers the ideal solution in this regard, as it enables each guest or employee to decide for themselves whether they would rather cool or heat their room. One particularly efficient feature is heat recovery, with the heat that is drawn from the rooms needing to be cooled ultimately being used to heat other locations.
Ideal for use in:
- Hotels
- Large office buildings
- Buildings in which the rooms must remain free of refrigerant lines
The Hybrid BC-Controller – the heart of innovation
The Hybrid BC-Controller represents the heart of the system. It connects the outdoor unit to the indoor units and thus enables the exchange of heat between the refrigerant in the external circuit and the water in the internal circuit. Energy-saving inverter-driven pumps convey the water to the last indoor unit at up to 60 metres away.Plate heat exchangers
The energy exchange between the refrigerant and the water system takes place here. Each HBC controller generally features two sets of plate heat exchangers that feed hot water into the system in heating mode and supply cold water to the system in cooling mode. In the mixed mode, one heat exchanger assumes the cooling function while another takes on the heating function.
Pumps
Two inverter-controlled pumps supply the cooled or heated water to the connected indoor units. The volume supplied by the pump depends on the actual heat and cooling demand.
Valve block
The valve block ensures that each indoor unit is individually supplied with the necessary volume of hot or cold water.
Simpler than a chiller
Planning and installation of the 2-pipe system is very flexible and much more straightforward than for a chiller with an additional heat generator featuring four pipes. No additional pumps, tanks or switch valves are required in the Hybrid City Multi system. With the 2-pipe system, there are significantly fewer connection points in the piping network. This ultimately reduces potential leaks and makes the system more reliable and less maintenance-intensive.
Contribution to green buildings
As a result of the reduced refrigerant volume and excellent energy efficiency, the hybrid system can make a decisive contribution to meeting current and ideally also future guidelines for modern sustainable construction. Its strengths come to the fore in the context of green buildings as well as LEED, BREEAM and DGNB certifications.Wonderfully comfortable
The water in the internal circuit of the Hybrid VRF systems ensures mild blow-out temperatures and particularly quiet indoor unit operation, thus delivering considerably greater air conditioning comfort in every room.Outdoor units
The outdoor units in the R2 series (air-cooled) and WR2 series (water-cooled) stand out thanks to a large performance range, peak values in terms of energy efficiency and high operational reliability.
HBC Controller
The Hybrid BC Controller links the outdoor unit to the indoor units and allows heat exchange between the refrigerant in the external circuit and the water in the internal circuit. The inverter-driven pumps are built in and pump the water to the last indoor unit at up to 90 metres away.
Indoor units
As there is a wide range of indoor units, the Hybrid City Multi system can be used to provide air conditioning in facilities of all kinds.
Benefits:
- Improved energy efficiency via heat recovery
- Customised comfort thanks to simultaneous cooling and heating
- Low maintenance, reliable operation
